Microsoft Student Champ Programme

Minimize

Student Champ Programme recognizes top young minds from around the country who are passionate about technology. It’s once in a lifetime opportunity to develop real world skills to help you succeed in your future career, to help others learn technology and to connect with other likeminded students, all while having a ton of fun along the way! Also build relationships with industry professionals while you are studying.

Any student from a local university or form another higher education institute (public or private) can participate while they are undergraduates. They are automatically removed from the programme once they graduate.

As of now there are over 90 registered Student Champs and 10 Student Ambassadors from 8 different universities and institutes. ‘Student Ambassador’ is a special title given to the most active members in the community. This selection happens twice a year.

Through various activities these champs are reaching several universities including the universities in remote areas resulting in knowledge sharing and networking with thousands of students around the country.

Student Champ Monthly Meeting is one of the key activities, which normally consists of student presentations and an industry presentation. Through the student presentations, champs are getting an opportunity to build their soft skills which is an essential skill in today’s competitive working environment. Industry presentations offer knowledge about how the industry functions and how they can apply their theoretical knowledge into practice.

www.champs.lk is the primary online hub of the Student Champ Programme. Apart from this champs communicate through Facebook, Sri Lanka .NET Forum and various internal university information portals.

Who is a Student Ambassador?

Microsoft Student Ambassadors (MSAs) are the leaders of the Student Champs Community. They are responsible for facilitating monthly meetings, IT Events in various Universities, Fun-Activities for the Student Community and running the programme in coordination with Academic Staff of their universities and Microsoft. It is a special honorary title which is given to the champs who have proven track record of excellent technical, communication and leadership capabilities. The student ambassadors are selected by a panel of judges appointed by Microsoft Sri Lanka. This opportunity is a truly unique and valuable experience offering the chance to get recognized and exposed to the vibrant IT industry, to develop leadership skills and technical expertise, to work closely with the world’s pioneering Software Company and finally, to ‘stand above’ the rest!

Being an MSA is a challenging task which requires a high level of commitment and dedication to the enhancement of the Student Champ Community.
